IHG overhauls its Chase cards: Premier goes to $150 and loses Platinum status, Business goes to $200, and a $350 Premier Select arrives
Chase's IHG One Rewards cards were refreshed in October 2026. The Premier's fee rises from $99 to $150 and its automatic status drops from Platinum to Gold Elite, the Business card rises from $99 to $200 and keeps Platinum, and a new $350 Premier Select card carries Platinum Elite.
Every existing IHG One Rewards credit card from Chase has been reworked, and a new top card has been added above them. The headline for most holders: the mid-tier Premier costs more and gives you a lower hotel status.
What changed, card by card
Upgraded Points and Frequent Miler agree on the figures below.
| Card | Annual fee | Automatic IHG status | Notable additions |
|---|---|---|---|
| IHG One Rewards Premier | $99 to $150 (2027 for existing holders) | Platinum Elite to Gold Elite | Up to $100 a year in IHG food and beverage credits; a $100 airline statement credit |
| IHG One Rewards Business | $99 to $200 | Keeps Platinum Elite | $100 airline statement credit; up to $100 a year toward Expensify |
| No-annual-fee IHG card | Stays $0 | No change reported | 5 elite night credits every year |
| IHG One Rewards Premier Select (new) | $350 | Platinum Elite | New card |
The Premier is the card that gets worse
The Premier was the reason many people held an IHG card: a sub-$100 fee and automatic Platinum Elite. Both halves of that change. Frequent Miler says existing holders pay the higher fee at their 2027 renewal and keep Platinum status through the end of 2027; Upgraded Points also describes a grace period through 2027. After that, Platinum on a Chase IHG card means either the $200 Business card or the $350 Premier Select.
The new credits can offset the fee increase, but only if you use them. Frequent Miler describes the food and beverage credit as $25 a quarter, which means it has to be used every quarter to be worth $100.
Reported by one source, not yet confirmed by a second
Frequent Miler also reports two changes we could not confirm in the Upgraded Points article, so treat them as reported:
- The anniversary free night on the Premier and Business cards improves from a 40,000-point cap to 50,000 points, with the option to top up with points.
- On the no-fee card, the fourth-night-free benefit on award stays will need $5,000 of spend from 1 January 2027.
The two outlets describe the category earn changes differently, so we are not restating earn rates here. Check your own card's terms before you plan spend around a bonus category.
What it means for you
- Hold the Premier mainly for Platinum Elite? You have through 2027. Before your 2027 renewal, decide whether Gold Elite plus the credits justifies $150, or whether the Business card or Premier Select is worth the jump.
- Hold the Business card? You keep Platinum but pay $200. The airline and Expensify credits only help if you would spend there anyway.
- On the fence about a new IHG card? Compare the net cost after credits you will actually use, not the headline perks.
