PNB credit cards: ₹99 redemption fee, 1% utility fee and higher cash and late charges from 1 November

Punjab National Bank's public notice revises credit card charges from 1 November 2026. Visa and RuPay variants get a ₹99 fee per reward redemption, a 1% fee on utility payments above ₹50,000 a cycle, and steeper cash advance and late payment charges.

Punjab National Bank has published a public notice revising the service charges on its credit cards, effective 1 November 2026. The new charges are listed under "VISA/RuPay Credit Card Variants". Two of them are new fees where PNB charged nothing before, and both hit the way you use your rewards and pay your bills. All figures below are read directly off PNB's notice and exclude GST.

The two new fees

ChargeBeforeFrom 1 Nov 2026
Reward redemptionNil₹99 per redemption request
Utility bill paymentsNil1% of total utility payments if they exceed ₹50,000 in a billing cycle, capped at ₹2,000 per transaction

The redemption fee is the one most cardholders will notice. A flat ₹99 on every request means small, frequent redemptions now lose a meaningful share of their value. Redeem less often and in larger blocks.

The utility fee only applies once your utility payments on the card cross ₹50,000 in a single billing cycle, so most households will not trigger it. If you route a business's or a large family's bills through one PNB card, check your monthly total.

Cash advances cost more

Previously each card family had its own cash advance rate, mostly 2% with minimums between ₹100 and ₹300 depending on the variant and the ATM. From 1 November the notice lists a single rate for Visa and RuPay variants:

Where you withdrawFrom 1 Nov 2026
PNB ATMs (domestic)2.5% of the amount, or ₹400, whichever is higher
Other ATMs (domestic)2.5% of the amount, or ₹500, whichever is higher
Overseas ATMs2.5% of the amount, or ₹500, whichever is higher

Interest also runs on a cash advance from the day you withdraw, so a card is still the most expensive way to get cash.

Late payment fees rise and start lower

Total amount dueBeforeFrom 1 Nov 2026
₹500 or lessNilNil
₹501 to ₹1,000Nil₹500
₹1,001 to ₹5,000₹500₹750
₹5,001 to ₹10,000₹600₹750
₹10,001 to ₹50,000₹750₹1,000
Above ₹50,000₹750₹1,200

The fee now applies from a ₹501 balance instead of ₹1,001, and the top slab rises by ₹450. Cards issued against a fixed deposit keep their own charge (30% of the minimum amount due, with a ₹200 minimum and ₹500 maximum per cycle).

Other changes in the notice

  • Bounced payment (returned cheque, failed ECS or auto debit): 2% of the payment amount, minimum ₹400, for Visa and RuPay variants. Cards against a fixed deposit stay at ₹100 per instrument.
  • Duplicate statement: ₹50 for any month; e-statements stay free.

What to do before 1 November

  1. Redeem now if you have points sitting idle. Any redemption done before 1 November avoids the ₹99 fee.
  2. Set up autopay for the full amount due. The late fee now starts at a ₹501 balance, so even a small missed bill costs ₹500.
  3. Keep utility payments under ₹50,000 a cycle on a PNB card, or move the excess to a card that rewards bill payments.
