Former Barclays Aviator cardholders lose their grandfathered Citi perks on 25 October
Citi ends the Barclays-era benefits on converted AAdvantage Platinum Select and Globe cards from 25 October 2026: Wi-Fi credits, the Globe's 2x hotels and car rentals and daily food credit, and the Companion Certificate after one final earn.
When Barclays' AAdvantage Aviator cards moved to Citi on 24 April 2026, holders kept a set of Barclays-era benefits. That grace period ends on 25 October 2026, six days from now. Doctor of Credit, Frequent Miler and Upgraded Points all report the same list from Citi's notice to affected cardholders.
Who this affects
| Old Barclays card | Converted to |
|---|---|
| AAdvantage Aviator Red World Elite Mastercard | Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select |
| AAdvantage Aviator Silver World Elite Mastercard | Citi AAdvantage Globe Mastercard |
If you opened a Citi AAdvantage card directly, none of this applies to you. That is why this post tags no catalog card: the change hits converted accounts only.
What ends on 25 October
| Benefit | Ex-Aviator Red (Platinum Select) | Ex-Aviator Silver (Globe) |

| Anniversary Wi-Fi credit | $25, ends | $50, ends |
| 2x miles on hotels | n/a | Ends, drops to 1x |
| 2x miles on car rentals | n/a | Ends, drops to 1x |

Purchases on or after 25 October no longer count toward the ending benefits.
The Companion Certificate, specifically
This is the perk most holders kept the card for. All three outlets agree:
- You can earn it one more time, at your next cardmembership anniversary.
- After that, the benefit is removed.
- Certificates already in your AAdvantage account stay valid until their original expiry dates.
What to do
- Use the Wi-Fi credit this week if your anniversary year allows it; purchases from 25 October will not count.
- Book Globe hotel and car rental spend before 25 October if it was going on this card anyway. After that it earns the base rate.
- Diary your next anniversary. That is your last Companion Certificate. Once it posts, decide whether the card still earns its fee on its standard Citi benefits.
