MakeMyTrip ICICI card goes zero forex from 10 Nov 2026, but stops rewarding international spends and puts a 24-month expiry on myCash
From 10 November 2026 the MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Credit Card drops its forex markup and DCC fee to zero, ends myCash on international spends outside MakeMyTrip, and new myCash expires after 24 months. The older Signature and Platinum MakeMyTrip cards are excluded.
In this article
ICICI has rewritten the terms of the MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Credit Card (the ₹999 dual Mastercard plus RuPay card launched in October 2024), effective 10 November 2026. It is a trade, not a straight cut: international spends get cheaper, but they stop earning anything, and myCash picks up an expiry date for the first time. Every figure below is read off ICICI's own documents: the card's revised terms and conditions and ICICI's credit card MITC.
What changes on 10 November 2026
| Item | Before 10 Nov 2026 | From 10 Nov 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Forex markup | 0.99% | None |
| Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fee | Charged | None |
| International spends outside MakeMyTrip | 1% myCash | No rewards |
| Domestic spends outside MakeMyTrip | 1% myCash (excluding rent and EMI) | Unchanged |
| Validity of myCash earned | Never expires | 24 months for myCash earned from 10 Nov |
| myCash earned before 10 Nov 2026 | Never expires | Still never expires |
The 0.99% figure is from ICICI's October 2024 launch release, which also promised "reward points that never expire". The revised terms keep that promise only for myCash already in your MakeMyTrip wallet before 10 November.
What stays the same
The MakeMyTrip earn rates in the revised terms are unchanged and uncapped: 6% myCash on hotel bookings, 3% on flights, holidays, cabs and buses, and 25 myCash per train booking, all on MakeMyTrip. 1 myCash is still worth ₹1. Insurance spends still earn 1%, capped at 1,000 myCash per anniversary year. Rent, EMI, cash advances and fees still earn nothing.
Who is not affected
ICICI's MITC is explicit that the zero forex and zero DCC fee do not apply to the older MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Signature and Platinum credit cards. The revised terms also restate that myCash from those older programmes expires within 12 months of being credited. If you hold the Signature card that CardPolo tracks, none of the 10 November changes reach you.
Is it better or worse?
It depends on what you do abroad.
- If you spend abroad in a foreign currency, you used to pay 0.99% markup and get back 1% myCash, roughly a wash. From 10 November you pay no markup and get nothing back. The net is about the same, and you no longer have to spend the myCash on MakeMyTrip to realise it. Mildly better for most people.
- If you were using it abroad to earn myCash for a MakeMyTrip booking, that loop ends.
- If you sit on a large myCash balance, nothing happens to it. Only myCash earned from 10 November gets the 24-month clock, so spend new myCash within two years.
- DCC: paying in rupees at a foreign merchant used to attract a fee; from 10 November ICICI stops charging it on this card. Paying in the local currency is still usually the better rate, because the merchant's conversion is often poor.
What to do now
- If you book travel on MakeMyTrip, nothing changes for those bookings.
- Keep track of new myCash: anything earned from 10 November expires after 24 months.
- If you want rewards on foreign spends, this card no longer earns them. Compare it with a card that earns on international spends using Polo Match, or work out what your points are worth with the points calculator.
