Amex raises every Hilton welcome offer, including a record 200,000-point Aspire bonus

Most weeks a welcome-offer change touches one card. This one touched the whole shelf. American Express raised the sign-up bonus on all four of its Hilton Honors cards at once, put a free night reward into three of the offers, and lifted the top card to a bonus size the program has not shown before. Two specialist trackers, Frequent Miler and One Mile at a Time, report the same figures independently.

These are elevated welcome offers, not a change to how the cards earn day to day. If you already hold one of these cards, nothing in your wallet changed. If you were considering one, the entry price just got materially better for a limited window.

The four offers

Each offer is earned by hitting the listed spend within the first six months of card membership.

• Hilton Honors (no annual fee): 70,000 points and a free night reward after $2,000 of spend. The base card has no annual fee and no foreign transaction fee.

• Hilton Honors Surpass ($150 a year): 130,000 points and a free night reward after $3,000 of spend.

• Hilton Honors Aspire ($550 a year): 200,000 points after $6,000 of spend. This is the headline number, and it is the largest bonus the Aspire has carried.

• Hilton Honors Business ($195 a year): 150,000 points and a free night reward after $8,000 of spend.

Three of the four offers bundle a free night reward on top of the points, and that certificate is where most of the real value sits. Hilton runs fully dynamic award pricing with no published chart, so a single certificate can be worth far more than its points-equivalent when you apply it to a property that would otherwise price high.

The Aspire is the one to read slowly. Both sources agree the welcome bonus itself is 200,000 points. They do not agree on whether a free night reward is part of that welcome offer: Frequent Miler lists a certificate with the bonus, One Mile at a Time frames the Aspire's certificate as the annual free night reward that every Aspire holder receives each year, including the year the account opens, rather than a welcome extra. Because the sources diverge on that one point, treat the Aspire welcome as 200,000 points and count on the annual free night as an ongoing benefit, not as a second welcome certificate.

The catch, and it is the usual Amex one

Two things bound this.

It is a welcome offer, so it is application-gated. You only get it by being approved for a new card, and Amex's once-per-lifetime rule means a bonus you have already collected on a given Hilton card will not come around again on that same card. The offer is a reason to open a card you do not have, not a reason to expect a windfall on one you hold.

It is time-limited. Both sources give the same firm end date: applications must be in by 13 January 2027. The elevated numbers went live in September 2026, so there is real runway, but the size of these offers is the exception, not the new normal, and it will revert.

How the four line up

The shape is a straight ladder of fee against bonus. The no-fee card is the low-commitment entry that now throws in a free night. The Surpass sits in the middle with the strongest points-plus-certificate combination for a moderate fee. The Aspire is a resort-and-status card whose $550 fee is defended by its annual credits and free night rather than by the welcome bonus alone, so the 200,000 points are a headline, not the whole case. The Business card is the one to look at only if the spend flows through a business.

What to do

A welcome bonus is only worth what you would have earned anyway plus the bonus, minus the annual fee, so price it against your real spending shape rather than the headline.
